I have been a life member of the Partners club since 2001. In that time I was giving a life time member leather jacket, (which is still in good shape) some cart towels, ball markers, a cart name plate in case my clubs are lost, club markers that go into the shaft with my name on them, club head covers, seems every time I move to a new location I get a sleeve of new address labels.

I started testing stuff in early 2002 and in that time I have tested golf shoes 2 pair now, sunglasses, brush tees, golf balls, golf trainers which I still use. Travel bag which is still in great shape for all the traveling I have done. Many other things that I most likely forgot about. I got my $300.00 back and much much more.

I was never promised that I would get to test all the great stuff, or even that I would test anything at all.

Call the club and request a product test profile form. You MUST send in the evaluation after testing a product and fill out another tester profile form. If not, you will not receive a new product. You are eligible to test 1 product every 12 months.

Just because you are eligible, does not mean you are going to get something. I have filled out the profile and I havent received anything in almost 2 years.

Been a member for a while now and have only tested a set of balls each year and a pocket ball washer. Never get the good stuff.

I became a life member after being pursuaded that all the benefits were well worth it.  One benefit they didn't mention that I counted on was stoping the ads trying to get me to become one.  I got my initial packet in December 2008.   With it came a "Passport" for admission to tournaments throught 2008!  All of the tournaments had been completed.  I called customer service and they told me that it was the only thing they had, that a 2009 passport had not been created yet.  I told them to send me one ASAP.

I also called customer service to register a complaint about the return envelopes they were using for the membership payments.  The address window extended so far right that my balance was clearly visible to anyone.   This would tell anyone that there is a good chance of a check being inside.  I had to tape something across the window to block that out.  In the same call, I mentioned that I had not received the new Passport, and that several tournaments that were in the 2008 book had already been played in 2009.  I was told that those were not sent out automatically, that I had to request it!   And so I did.  Here it is, February, and I still have not yet received it.   How many tournaments will have been long over by the time I receive it, IF I receive it.  I feel that I was promised things that are not being delivered, and that their billing department isn't doing a good job.  I'll remain patient for now, but not for too long.

southtxblues, welcome to the post. contact the club for your green fees rebate certificates, that's another thing that doesn't come automatically.

I agree I think it is awesome to just be a member but I have never seen rebates either. I use my life member bag all the time and it serves me well. I really enjoy the magazine and cant wait until I can post something. This is my first post to the forum, I hope it becomes are regular part of my routine.

Welcome Ken..........

Like any membership you can make it work or complain about it. Partners Club Life Membership has its flaws but complaining just to complain doesn't make things better. My first year I had no clue, but now I get my 4 x $10 rebates checks yearly, I get some things to test every so often (nothing great, but I have tested a few things), I go to one PGA event FREE, every year. I enjoy the magazine and I really like my cart bag. I get the biggest kick out of reading the things members post and every so often I jump in, I find that to be the biggest benefit of all.

That's my take on this subject because there are so many more important issues to complain about, like staying clear of the beach. I spend more time in the sand that I'm thinking I should carry a beach chair.......

I have been a life member since 2004 as well.  I'm not so sure about "ripped off" but the life time membership is not exactly what I thought it would be.  The "product tests" I received early on weren't much.   I had to pay to return the product or overpay for gadgets I could get for half the price at the local Golf Discount.  I told the club to remove me so I wasn't constantly paying to send junk back.

The thing I liked about the club was the game track.  I could enter scores, track my progress, and it provided a handicap.  Not a USGA handicap necessisarily, but a handicap jsut the same.  I live in a northern state and just started playing again this year but I can't find gametrak on the changed website.  The only handicap service I see is the USGA link that I am apparantly not a part of since it won't let me in with my user name and password.

If the PartnersClub handicap service is no longer available, I'll change my opinion from "disappointed" to "ripped off".

Billikenbob, welcome to the forum, I am guessing that you are a SLU grad. There is a way to get to gametrack, and if you hang around I believe there are some guys that know how to get to it.

Billikenbob, welcome to the forums. I don't think the club offers gametrack any longer. Try this link for gametrack. http://www.freegolfinfo.com/gametrack3/putting_green.asp

Yes, ER, there are other, far more important things to complain about.  There are more important things to do besides play golf as well.

But how would you feel if you paid what I consider a large amount of money only to get a magazine, a pencil, a useless ballmarker, 2 decals, a plastic bag tag, some club ids that won't fit your grips?  I've called at least 3 times to request  my free admission to a PGA tournament event and other promised items.   I've received nothing else but an occasional magazine.   I'm glad some of you received all the things that were promised.  I haven't.  It's funny that people who do get them say that people who don't shouldn't complain.

I have been a life member for quite some time. The luggage and golf bags were not offered then. If I remember I received 3 head covers a packet and club button ID tags along with a bag tag....Sounds like the club is getting more generous........ As far as the testing I have received sleeves of balls, oinment for sore muscles......... Do not think the are helping my game........If you get anything other than these great......... I have filled out the test report each time and go online and submit a new profile.... With an answer we received your profile and will be in touch soon........ Still waiting I wonder who chooses the test product for you ? Or is it a random pick........... MJ, sure it gets old reading the same complaints over and over but don't be the liason for the club.......Just let it go.......Some people like seeing what they think...It is their right to post their opinion no matter what it is....

I haven't been a life member for that long, but like most people I get the random sleeve of 2 golf balls or a divot repair tool. My only complaint about the product test is that I only get to play in the spring, summer, and fall and they always send me the products in the winter when I can't test them. So if club mananement is reading these try to pay attention to the season you send the products.

thanks

Phil

I just upgraded to a Life Membership and the discounts I get at select courses are worth the membership dues.  I'm still waiting on my cart bag, but I called today and they said they where back ordered and they just received them in and will start to ship them out and I should get it within 4 to 6 weeks.

I as also told that to test products you have to fill out a app each time you return a review to be placed on the list to test more products.

Never the less, the membership fees are worth it to get the discounts on the better courses which I normally could not affort to play, plus it helps getting T-Times also.

I am with you in the feeling of being repped off.  I had a 2 handi cap about 12 years ago but it has slowly climbed along with my age.  I am now 85 and still shoot to a 14.  I joined about three years ago and received a cart bag which is great but I could have purchased for much less than my membership.  I did receive two clubs to try out but both times received them in November or December and since I live in the Chicago area could not try them in the dead of winter.  I returned them and asked that they send things in the time of year that I can use them.  Since then I have not heard from them.  Never received a sleeve of balls or anything else.

I have to agree with the majorityof the post. You have to be aggresive with "Partners" to get all of your benefits, but they can be garnered. I just retired in Sept. 2008 and was looking forward to the members tournaments and they dropped that benefit. I hope it comes back. I also hope the members handbook comes back. I was told you could use this forum to link up with members in areas you are traveling to. I am interested in playing brookview, or meadowbrook in the Mpls/St Paul area on Sat morn. May 30th. I need a 8:00am tee time for a foresome. Can anybody help with that??

I apologize to any member I may have offended with my last post, which was awhile ago. I've tried to take a different approach about complaining because there are much greater things to complain about, like not having a job. I understand letting off the frustration does help the soul but so does taking a positive approach. I've had my ups and downs this past year since losing my job but I'm doing my best to stay positive and focused even during these tough economic times. Hopefully, Partners will clean up their act someday and make things right for all.

No I don't feel ripped off.  Feel lucky you have received four items in as many years.  I have been a life member for over 10 years and only received 4 gifts. A book to log my round,  sleeve of golf balls, tees and the big one a pair of Rudy Project sunglasses $169 at the time.   I also have won a Sonartec  fairway wood worth $269 at time I got it.  Remember there are thousands of members and only a few items given away every couple of months.  And if your member profile does not match the item being given away ie: regular flex and you use stiff flex you won't get that club.  Just like if you are right left handed and they are giving away right handed you will be given something else.  Its kind of like the lottery. LUCK OF THE DRAW.  So Be happy you've gotten so many gifts in such a short  time it won't be like that for long. For those who get test products in the winter and can't try.  Read the instructions give them your report when you get a chance to use it.  Sorry for my long wind but realize I am just trying to let you all know things I have learned over the years of being a member.  Keep golfing and enjoy.

I got my bag today, Oh man what a bag, I come home from work after two months of looking for my bag, thinking oh man oh I am going to get a bag, oh I got a bag, the box was better than the bag. I swing a R9 driver, a Ping Farway 3,7, muzuno 4-P and a Ping putter, and do you think that I would put them in a CHEAP A$$ bag like this... I am trying to keep this clean but if I'm going to get screw like I did on this deal, I live in AR this would mean a A$$ whooping. This is the worst I have ever fell into. Its a rip off, I am going to send this bag to Tiger Woods since he is behind Nike, and with my name and the PGA Partners Life Time Member patch on it and see what he thinks about it.This is a game of honesty and intergerty, for someone to promise a burton bag and send something so cheap as this bag.  I WILL NOT CARRY IT! I opened the box today and looked at it, no external putter holder, you can buy the same bag for less than a hundred dollars.. I was promised more, its not the money, its the fact that they told me that I was getting a Burton Bag and they send me this CRAP! We all do business deals and you don't change midstream, you do the orginal deal, this is all I ask, man up... This is a HUGE Corporation not a little Golf Shop...

I've been a Life Member for over 10 years and have also signed up for product testing on a regular basis.  Once I received a two ball pack of Nike golf balls to test.  A TWO BALL PACK.  Cheapskates.  I'm an 8 handicap and tested the balls on a bad day.  I reported back...........ball one won the game of Hide & Seek in deep grass and ball two can't swim.  Ya think my critique had something to do w/ me never receiving another product to test?

I have been a member for 21/2 years and a life member for 11/2 years and it has been over a year since I have tested any kind of product after registering several times. I am wondering if I could get a refund and I will send them their bag back. I am very unhappy about the membership as I was told about all the benefits I would receive as a life member.

Many of us have tried the refund route, but no dice. You are now as screwed as the rest of us. By the way, Ive mentioned this before, but Ive been filling out the test profile on line now for 2 years and they have no record of me ever filling one out. I have contacted them multiple times and each time, I get the exact same word-for-word response apologizing and saying they are looking into it, then I never hear back.

The only sure way to find a ball sliced into the woods is to hit a provisional straight down the fairway.

I have been associated since 2001, and finally became a Life Member in 2008.  While I do like the stand bag I received, there was really nothing else of value associated with finally taking the plunge.  a bag tag and some club marker name tags that fall out of the ends of your grips.

As for product testing, I have received nothing for two years.  Products I have tested so far are the Bridgestone E6 balls (TWICE), the Pinnacle Exception balls and some pain cream.  I have never been selected in the giveaways...yes, I feel ripped off.

I've been a life member for about 2 or 3 years now and stopped testing things when it cost me to send them back.  I agree with many of the other posts that the benefits are not what they really promised as you have to do all the work in order to have a chance at getting them.  It is sad that they can't utilize a simple database system that automatically sends out the Passport and discount greens fees to the appropriate members.   Also, the website functionality is sad and should be updated.  Since they actually don't read these posts, I guess complaining about them to others is like telling the bartender your sad story...does no good.

Keep hitting them straight...or wherever they land.

I have also been a member for a long time and have tested a glove holder that goes on your bag...nothing else. A leather jacket! Man, I got towels etc. and I wish I had received a Leather Jacket...They have been more than misleading and I have asked for many times the lists for members when traveling to play at the members home course...still dont have...I have been very dissappointed aven the magazine this month was cut in half as far as number of pages...Tome Stine...time to step up...

To all of you that feel ripped off: The quarterly greens fee rebates alone more than offset the annual dues. All you have to do is request the forms each year and send them in according to the instructions. A product to test on occasion is icing on the cake. The tourney pass is a nice incentive as well although I do not use it since there are no tourneys in my area. Birdies for all!!!

I agree the rebates are great. I have used them for several years now. I suggest you request them early in the year to get them in time to use all 4

I've been a member since 01, submit my form every year to test a product. Just recieved a sleeve of Noodles..might be the third Noodles I have tested. Got a green side cigar holder and club stand (like you would carry that with you). Mostly just little $3-4 gadgets. Best thing I got was a golf towel. Would sure be nice to actually test something of value that I could actually recommend and write a good thorough review maybe a wedge, driver, set of irons...anything but gadgets. Oh well, time to submit my form again...need three more Noodles to get my six pack Ha.

Thank you to whoever started this thread. I have been a life member since around 2004/05 and never got some of the goodies like greens fee rebates, etc. after the first year. I found I had to call and direct them each year to do this which I still find kind of rude, unprofessional at the least. Anyway, this is the first time I have visited this website and the first time I have visited the forums, and this thread is the first one I read, going from the title. I am looking for complaints in the same way I look for negative comments by vendors on ebay about other products. It is a quick way to see past the PC gloss and know the reality of a product, in this case, my pga lifetime membership. I am not bothered to read both the good and the bad of this membership, in fact, I am thrilled to be able to find so many real life experiences with this "product" in one place. For this, again, thank you for starting this thread and with the bad as well as the good. It is much apprectiated, at least from this poster.
