What is the best cleaner to use to clean the club heads? Would something like "Simple Green" be bad on the finish or any materials used to cement/glue the club heads to the shaft? I have been using a little simple green diluted in warm water and and haven't had any adverse effects YET.  I found that a little dab of Meguiar's cleaner/wax on the painted surfaces and graphite shafts make them alot easier to clean the next time.

I have been cleaning my clubs for years and have found the best thing for me has been dish soap warm water.  On my irons I spray WD40 after cleaning so they do not rust if chipped.  The heads on my woods are finished with a good boat wax.  Works for me.

I don't use any type of soap or cleaner. I have an old tooth brush I use & just some warm water. The tooth brush works great for cleaning the groves. I also have a small towel I wet with warm water and ring out the excess water to wipe down the clubs and grips. It's important to keep the grips clean as well as the club face.

Toothpaste, warm water and a toothbrush, or a toothbrush and purple power wheel cleaner always work for me.

I agree with the other members, warm water is the best. I just purchased the Frogger brush for on course cleaning. It's a great product and cheap.

A wet towel during play to wipe them off after each shot works wonders also.

I try to keep my irons as clean as possible during play with a wet towel and a club cleaning tooth brush.  Between rounds I use warm water and occasionally glass cleaner and a tooth brush.  Dry well after cleaning.  Cleaning the grips is also important.  I've been using this procedure for 30+ years.  It works for me.

I also clean my fairway woods as necessary during a round.  General cleaning of my woods is a damp towel, dry well and then I use a quality wax on the clubs, EXCEPT THE FACE, of all woods.  Again, don't forget the grips.

Something else to consider is cleaning your golf bag occasionally.  Dust it with your vacuum cleaner and wipe it down with a damp cloth.  They last a lot longer if you keep them clean and they look better.  Some think I'm a little picky about my equipment but, like you, I have a lot of money tied up in my equipment.

I  belong to a course were many of the members own their carts. I have a ball/ club cleaner on my cart so keeping the clubs clean is very easy. You can give your clubs a quick scrub after each swing and wash your ball before each hole. My course only has club cleaners on the par 3's so cleaning your irons was problematic. I put a little dish soap in the water which helps clean and keeps the water from getting too rank. At the beginning of the season I take 2 2liter bottles of soapy water to my cart and fill the washer. I leave the rest of the water in the basket to top up the cleaner as needed.
