I'm volunteering at this year's Quail Hollow Championship (formerly Wachovia).  I'll be working a scoreboard. I won't know which one until next weekend.  Has anyone volunteered at a tournament before?  Any tips or suggestions?  Thanks

I volunteer for several tournaments a year. The next one I'm doing is the Valero Texas Open. The best part of being a volunteer is a free round of golf at the course. The course at La Cantera is excellent & it's way to pricey for me so getting a free round after the tournament is awsome !!

I have vounteered for several tournaments. I have worked at 2 Senior tournaments,(when we had them here in Utah). Continuous volunteer for the Nationwide Tournament in Sandy, Utah. I was a marshal at the 2008 US OPEN at Torrey Pines. Was supposed to be a marshal at Pebble Beach in 2010 US OPEN, and at 2010 US Senior OPEN in Sahalee, Wa. Not enough seniority, couldn't get the summer vacation this year. I work Player Transportation at the Nationwide, So I meet alot of the young players. Steven Alker from New Zealand got a new golf bag at the tournament this year, I now have his old one. Played a round of golf with Daniel Summerhays in Dec 2009 in Mesquite, Nv. If you can volunteer for a Tournament, by all means go for it.

I've volunteered for the Turningstone Championship (formally the B.C. Open)in Verona NY, a fall tournament. The weather has not been great the 3 years I have worked it but its cool to be involved. the 2010 has been moved to August this year so that should be better weatherwise. I have done the 'shotlink' all 3 years and really enjoyed it. I'll be back again.
